The First Day of Trinity School

Trinity School opened on September 5, 1995, with 39 students in three classes at Hope Creek Church on Erwin Road. Families came from different cities and churches, united by a shared desire for a classical, rich, unhurried, and Christ-centered education—values that have shaped Trinity from the very beginning.

Starting a Middle School

Trinity grew from 39 to 158 students in five years, adding grades and traditions along the way. The school expanded into sixth and then eighth grade, and many of Trinity’s now beloved traditions were established—including Grandparents Day (1996) and the Turkey Bowl (2002)—laying the foundation for Trinity’s permanent home and future.

The Birth of Trinity Athletics, and Leo the Lion

Even before Trinity had its own buildings, the Middle School Cross-Country and Track teams were launched. A donor’s challenge led to the building of the Blue Gym, a place for basketball and volleyball games. With new fields, our athletic program continued to grow. In 2000, the students chose the Lions as Trinity’s mascot, and Leo the Lion became a beloved symbol.

Trinity’s First Buildings

As Trinity grew, so did the need for space. The Board had secured land on Pickett Road in 1998 and started a $3 million capital campaign. On October 1, 2001, Trinity dedicated its first building and gym, expanding enrollment by 40% and laying the foundation for future growth. The building today houses the Lower School.

Trinity’s story is a testament to God’s unwavering faithfulness and the remarkable generosity of our community.

Through the success of past capital campaigns like Growing Up and Trinity Forward, God has provided the resources to build a home for our mission and a future for our students. We invite you to be part of our next chapter. Learn more about our current campaign, ONE Trinity, at the link below.

Starting an Upper School, adding South Building

In 2000, the Board established the High School Task Force and began planning for the Upper School, which was launched in fall 2006. Winterim, robotics, varsity sports, and Senior Capstones soon followed. Trinity’s first senior class graduated in May 2010. As the Upper School increased in size, the Growing Up capital campaign funded the construction of the new South Building and Gold Gym. These facilities doubled Trinity’s classroom space and expanded its athletic and community facilities. The Gold Gym became a central location for chapels, events, athletics, and student activities.

The HUB: Honoring Blake Hubbard’s Legacy

Trinity student Blake Hubbard embodied our school’s spirit of joy and faith. After his passing in 2012, over $2 million was given in his memory, enabling the building of the Blake Hubbard Commons. Dedicated in 2016, the HUB is a shared space for worship, study, and play—honoring Blake’s legacy by enriching the life of every Trinity student.

Space for Creativity: The Brent Clark Arts and Engineering Building

As Trinity grew, so did the need for more classrooms for the arts and STEM. With the support of the Trinity Forward campaign, construction began in 2020, and the new building was dedicated in 2021. The building is named in memory of Brent Clark, who at the time of his unexpected death was serving as the school’s Director of Finance. The building was a beloved project of his, and it is fitting that his name is over this beautiful space that fosters creativity in engineering, music, theatre, and the visual arts for all students.

Expanding the Lower School

Ground was broken in April 2024 on an ambitious expansion that nearly doubles our Lower School’s footprint. This intentional growth allows us to increase to three classrooms per grade in the Lower School while adding a new library, a large community meeting space, and dedicated after-school facilities. By expanding our capacity to a total of 700 students, we are meeting the growing demand for a Trinity education while strengthening the programs and efficiencies that benefit our entire school community.
