Human Resources Generalist
Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill is seeking a Human Resources Generalist responsible for a broad range of HR-related responsibilities, including, but not limited to, payroll management, benefits, compensation, and policy administration, compliance reporting, and records management. The HR Generalist will assist and support leaders in all aspects of people-related matters. The Generalist’s day-to-day priorities and responsibilities will be largely shaped by the ongoing needs of the school.
Duties
Primary:
- Benefits Administration: Administer Trinity’s benefits; coordinate annual open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs.
- Payroll Administration: Administer all aspects of bi-monthly payroll management.
- Policy Administration: FMLA, Leave of Absence, PTO accruals, updating employee handbook.
- Compensation Administration: Determining annual salary increases, new hire compensation.
- Compliance Reporting: Ensure compliance with all government employment regulations; maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
- Maintain employee personnel records.
Secondary:

Work with leadership in the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff.

Administer employee background checks.

Assist with new hire onboarding and termination offboarding.

Function as the key subject matter expert for Paycom, Trinity’s human resources information
system (HRIS). -
Assist with the development of compensation models.

Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to management.

Respond to human resources-related inquiries.

Create and distribute internal communications regarding human resource subject matter.

Maintain HR benchmark data via national databases INDEX and DASL.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of the human resources field.
- Understanding of state (NC) and federal employment regulations.
- Understanding of personnel and compliance records management.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
- Exceptional human resources experience and expertise.
- K-12 school experience and understanding of independent school culture preferred.
- Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems; Paycom preferred.
- PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
